Provence Wedding Photographer | French Riviera & Beyond
Provence is one of those places that doesn't need much help looking beautiful. Lavender fields, century-old plane trees, stone villages that have barely changed in hundreds of years. A quality of light that photographers spend their whole careers chasing.
I'm based on the French Riviera. Provence is where I spend a good part of my summers — photographing weddings at vineyard estates, under ancient oak trees, beside pools at golden hour. This page is an honest look at the venues I know, the weddings I've photographed here, and what I can bring to yours.
Why Provence is a Destination Wedding Dream
Provence covers a vast and varied region. From the lavender fields of the Luberon to the vineyards of the Var, from hilltop villages to grand private estates. For couples planning a destination wedding, it offers something rare: a setting that feels both luxurious and completely authentic.
Summers here are long and warm, and golden hour stretches well into the evening. That's the kind of light that makes photographs feel timeless rather than simply "nice".
I cover weddings across the wider Provence region. Most of my work is in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var, where I'm based and where I've built relationships with venues and vendors over the years.
Venues I Know Across Provence
Château Robernier
I've photographed more than ten weddings at Château Robernier, and I'm returning again this August. Every time, the ceremony takes place in front of the château itself — and every time, it's genuinely moving. There's something about that setting, the château as a backdrop to two people making their vows, that gets to me even after several weddings here.
Dinner moves into the château's inner courtyard. On one of these weddings, the courtyard also became the dance floor for the evening. Guinguette lights overhead, the stone walls glowing, a party atmosphere that felt both elegant and completely relaxed. Add a sunset couple session into the vineyards, and you have one of the most complete wedding days Provence has to offer.

Manoir de l'Étang
This is one of my favourite venues in Provence. The wedding I photographed here — Yangkyi & Sven's, at the end of August — is one of my favourites of the year.
The ceremony took place under a centuries-old oak tree. Yangkyi and Sven are a striking couple, and the whole day had this effortless quality — chic but relaxed, polished but never stiff. Dinner was set up around the pool, with some of the best floral arrangements I've seen all season. Everything happened on site. The whole day flowed naturally, with no back-and-forth between locations.
Gordes & the Luberon
I know Gordes and the surrounding Luberon well — I've photographed couple sessions there, and the area is exactly what people picture when they imagine Provence. Hilltop villages, stone houses, lavender fields stretching toward the horizon.

Yangkyi & Sven's Wedding at Manoir de l'Étang
Some weddings just have a certain energy from the very first hour, and this was one of them.
The ceremony under the oak tree set the tone. Intimate, a little wild around the edges in the best way, surrounded by greenery rather than rows of chairs in a sterile garden. Yangkyi and Sven photographed beautifully together — the kind of couple who make a photographer's job feel effortless.
As the day moved into the evening, the pool became the heart of the celebration. Dinner around the water, the light fading, florals that elevated everything without feeling overdone. Having every part of the day on a single property meant we could chase the light freely. No rush between locations, no lost time. Just the wedding, unfolding at its own pace.
My Approach to Wedding Photography in Provence
Provence rewards patience. The light changes constantly, the landscapes are vast, and the best moments often happen in the quiet stretches between the moments everyone expects.
My approach is to stay present, stay light on my feet, and let the day breathe. I'm not interested in stopping a wedding to stage a photo — I'm interested in being ready when something real happens. In a region this beautiful, that's usually enough.
Practical Tips for a Provence Wedding
Plan your ceremony for late afternoon. Provence summers run hot. A ceremony at 5pm or later means cooler temperatures for your guests and golden light for your photos — rather than fighting the harsh midday sun.
Choose a venue with everything on site, if you can. Weddings like Yangkyi & Sven's, where the ceremony, dinner, and party happen on the same property, tend to feel more relaxed for everyone — including the photography. Less travel time means more time for the moments that matter.
Lavender season is short. If lavender fields are part of your vision, the bloom typically runs from late June through July, depending on the year and the altitude. Worth checking with your venue or florist if this matters to you.
Trust the golden hour. Provence light in the hour before sunset is some of the best you'll find anywhere in France. Build a couple session into your timeline for this window — it consistently produces the most memorable images of the day.
