Village of Eze

As one might guess, the name EZA comes from the village of Èze, so speaking about the Château cannot be done without describing this gem of the Côte d'Azur, which is the village of Èze. Èze is a picturesque medieval village on the French Riviera, known for its dramatic perch atop a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. With its narrow cobblestone streets, centuries-old stone buildings, and lush gardens, Èze exudes timeless charm and offers a tranquil escape from the bustle of the Côte d'Azur. The French Riviera, or Côte d'Azur, is celebrated for its glamorous coastal towns, azure waters, and sun-drenched beaches. Stretching from Saint-Tropez to the Italian border, it’s a haven for luxury, art, and natural beauty. Destinations like Èze, Nice, Cannes, and Monaco showcase a blend of cultural heritage and chic sophistication, making the region a magnet for travelers worldwide.

Perched on the hillside

Château Eza is located in the medieval village of Èze, perched high on a rocky hilltop along the French Riviera. The village itself is situated between Nice and Monaco, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. The chateau is nestled amidst narrow, cobblestone streets and stone buildings that date back centuries, creating a charming and romantic atmosphere. From its elevated position, approximately 400 meters above sea level, Château Eza boasts panoramic vistas of the Côte d'Azur, with its sparkling waters and lush surroundings. This luxurious boutique hotel is renowned for its enchanting setting and the picturesque beauty of Èze, making it a coveted destination for travelers seeking tranquility, history, and spectacular scenery.

Chateau Eza

The château has a long history tied to the village. Originally built in the 17th century, it served as part of the local architecture for centuries. In the 1920s, Prince William of Sweden acquired the property and transformed it into his winter residence. The prince transformed the property into a retreat, hosting artists, writers, and prominent figures of the time. After the prince's departure in 1953, the château returned to individual ownership until André Rochat began its restoration in the late 1970s. Rochat eventually opened it as a bed and breakfast in 1982, and by 1987, it became the luxury boutique hotel it is today.

Over the years, Château Eza evolved into a celebrated destination, blending its royal heritage with modern luxury. Nestled in the medieval village of Èze, the château retains its historical character while offering unparalleled views of the Mediterranean, making it a unique and enchanting haven on the French Riviera. The property now features 14 rooms and suites, each uniquely designed to blend medieval charm with modern luxury. Château Eza also boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant, stunning terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, and its prime location within the pedestrian-only village of Èze makes it a gem of the French Riviera

Wedding at Chateau Eza

As you can see in the photos, the uniqueness of this château, beyond its beauty, lies in its hillside location facing the sea. This is an important factor to consider when choosing it (and perhaps the main reason you chose it). As a result, the ceremony can be held on the large terrace. The couple or family photo session can take place in the village's narrow streets, showcasing the unique architecture of its small alleys and squares. Now, just imagine..Imagine a romantic photo shoot for a couple at sunset in the charming streets of Èze. The golden light of the setting sun bathes the cobblestone alleys in a warm, soft glow, casting long shadows that highlight the intricate stonework of the medieval village. The couple strolls hand in hand, their silhouettes framed by ivy-clad walls and wrought-iron lanterns.

The photographer captures intimate moments as they pause by an ancient wooden door or stand under an archway with the Mediterranean visible in the background. The light shifts to hues of pink and orange, reflecting off the sea and creating a dreamy backdrop. The shoot continues as they share a quiet moment on a stone bench in a small square, surrounded by the timeless beauty of the village architecture. Each photograph tells a story of love and enchantment, blending the couple's connection with the village's historical charm. It could be your couple photo shoot. During your couple's photo session, your guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing drink at the bar, set in a stone-vaulted cellar atmosphere. The cocktail and dinner can be elevated with candlelight, creating a magical ambiance as the sky changes colors during sunset.
